African Americans come down on Obama
Seoul News.Net Saturday 7th November, 2009
Barack Obama has been the subject of a protest by African Americans in Washington.
Hundreds of people have marched on the White House, protesting the policies of the first black US president and referring to him as a black man in a "white-face."
More than 200 people, in the first public demonstration by African Americans against the Obama administration, accused the president of being an "imperialist" and demanded he bring US troops home.
Civil rights activists called for the withdrawal of all troops from Iraq and Afghanistan while also calling for the scrapping of Africom, the controversial year-old United States Africa Command.
The protestors listened as President Obama was attacked for "turning a cold shoulder to the plight of African Americans."
But they were also told the organisers were not looking for a change in the occupant of the White House from black to white, but for change in foreign and domestic policies.
Black Americans voted overwhelmingly for Democrat Obama in last year's election.
